I’m a little slow this week with posting up pictures from my past weekend camping trip and excursion to Newport Cunneticuit, my  big fish from the East River… and soon to come our fabulously expensive dinner tonight at PerSe. Yes, I purposely booked it and yes its megga dosh about $250 for a fixed menu witout tax, wine and all the other NYC flowery taxes.  This occation calls for Jimmy to come out of the box and make an appearece. FINALLY!

So will have pictures coming up really soon!

Fishing Tonight

July 12, 2007

Gone FishingI’m delighted to do something different today. Someone invited us to go fishing down the Hudson River. If I recall my previous fishing trips it involved sitting around watch the men just hold on to their rods – like as in fishing poles ok! and us ‘simple minded’ lasses just watched. So usually I would just have some beers keep asking why we haven’t cought any fish yet!

This is when the guys would come up with lame excuses that there isn’t any fish in this river blah blah blah… excuses excuses, and when they DO catch a tiny fish they think they act like they cought a Barracuda.

Anyway that’s my experience with fishing. This time its for REALZ YA’LL! Even I’m going to do it! Thought it’ll be a boat with people anchoring their poles and sitting chatting and drinking beers while watching the sunset. (thought I wouldn’t mind doing that too..) After checking out the website, its serious fishing in the Hudson.

Second Life

July 10, 2007

simplelife.jpg I’m not sure how many of you have heard of this portal called Second Life. Karen told me about it and if you decide to join come look for me. My name is Sheilz Tomsen! Hahahah  You can create your first name but you’ll have to choose from a list of last names listed out for you to use.

Its actually pretty cool the fist DAY I spent checking it out! Yes I was on it for almost a whole day just playing around and getting Sheilz into character. Sheilz is my “Avatar” and you can change every detailed feature of your avatar, cheekbones, lips, hair, nails, eyebrows… everything. You can even buy islands, watch live concerts all with real money but with an different exchange rate (linden dollars) of course and just create your second life there!

I’ve not done much or gone into actually buying land and having kids there yet. My real life isn’t that boring to spend that much time playing this. Website give lots of explanations on how it works but best is just to sign-up get a character and just test it out. There’s some initial downloading involved but it’ll only take you about 5 mins. Let me know how you go and maybe you can join me and Deby buy an island and get naked and charge a fortune for property!! We’ll make a KILLING!

Alone no more & Shakespeare in the Park

June 26, 2007

OK Garth is back! Yippie! Did I have fun by myself? HELL YEA!! Didn’t have time to think about anything else, have been busy with work and after work gym and after gym movie and dinner at home with whatever chick flick I wanted to watch. (last night we watched smoke and aces ~ Blah..) Also made it to the Met and the roof deck for drinks with friends. ( I wonder how come I never made it there when Garth is in town Hmmm…) Anyway all I mean to say is that I got to do things that I wanted to do without having to worry about not spending time with someone else. Saturday I went to yoga, bought lunch and cycled to the park and continued reading on the grass and had a nap. Karen and April arrived later and I joined them and we just lay chatting till 5ish – 6.

If you have a chance to catch Romeo and Juliet in the park go and do it! ~ Thanks D for waiting 3 hrs for tickets. It was really beautiful with Belvedere Castle as the backdrop to a very stylish set! Thought that Juliet’s performance was very orgasmic! ~ She shakes her head a whole lot like she’s in a trance (from where I sat, I saw the back of her head most of the time). Overall it was a true new york city experience!

Miami Nights

June 20, 2007

Shorts tan, partying till dawn, dodgy weather, blue oceans, cuban food, bar dancing… there’s too many stories to tell of this weekend in Miami.
For now enjoy the pictures!

Debbie: I’m not gonna go to the end of the fucking line, who the fuck are you? I have just as much of a right to be here as any of these little skanky girls. What, am I not skanky enough for you, you want me to hike up my fucking skirt? What the fuck is your problem? I’m not going anywhere, you’re just some roided out freak with a fucking clipboard. And your stupid little fucking rope! You know what, you may have power now but you are not god. You’re a doorman, okay. You’re a doorman, doorman, doorman, doorman, doorman, so… Fuck You! You fucking fag with your fucking little faggy gloves.
Doorman: I know… you’re right. I’m so sorry, I fuckin’ hate this job. I don’t want to be the one to pass judgement, decide who gets in. Shit makes me sick to my stomach, I get the runs from the stress. It’s not cause you’re not hot, I would love to tap that ass. I would tear that ass up. I can’t let you in cause you’re old as fuck. For this club, you know, not for the earth.
Debbie: What?
Doorman: You old, she pregnant. Can’t have a bunch of old pregnant bitches running around. That’s crazy, I’m only allowed to let in five percent black people. He said that, that means if there’s 25 people here I get to let in one and a quarter black people. So I gotta hope there’s a midget in the crowd.

Miami this Weekend…. Alone!

June 14, 2007

I’m technically not going alone. I’ll be there with my friend Jyothi. My cousin Ramesh lives there now and will be fabulous to meet up and spend some time with him. Garth will be away on his own holiday to attend the weddings of two friends back in the UK.

There’s too many weddings this year and in all honesty, I personally am finding it hard to get time off to celebrate all of them. It took me forever to get to the states to work and now that I’m working here there’s only a number of days I can take time off! Bugger, well I don’t mean to sound so nasty but I actually enjoy my occational trips by to fun destinations on my own.
Meeting differnt people and enjoying out of the box experiences.

Because I can’t go to the UK, I decided to treat myself to some R&R by the pool in South Beach drinking taquilas and catching up on my reading,  bring some trash mags and enjoying the next two sunsets.

Everyone’s getting Married!

Deby & Evan: Dec 06 Mexico (went)
Tim and Sarah: March 07 UK (went)
Bristol Wedding #1 June 07 (not going)
Bristol Wedding #2 June 07 (not going)
Woody & Jil: July 07 Sing (going)
Emma & Dave: Oct 07 Bali (going)
Jeremy and Louise: Mar 08 UK (going)
Simon & Mel: Mar 08 Barbados (not sure)

Welcome to MIAMI! ~ Buenvenidos a Miami!!

My first Jimmy

June 4, 2007

Jimmy Choo that is..

I’ve just been wearing them around the house, have not ventured out into pot-hole and cracked-up streets of New York. I’m actually afraid to. When you’ve spend a lot of ‘dosh’ on a pair of shoes and they feel so fragile on your feet you really should wear them for standing and sitting occasions only. This baby is staying in the box for now!

My mom can’t believe that much money was actually spent on a pair of shoes. Like any Indian mother one look at that and she’ll say she can make it at home.

Have a good weekend everyone!Sxx

The last few weeks in Pictures…

June 3, 2007

Some small updates, nothing totally exciting…
Friend from the UK visited and we did a little sight seeing and hung out at the park.
The weather is getting warmer by the day. Humidity is back and I don’t particularly like it.

That day at the park was gorgeous though, people were playing baseball and the rollerblader/skaters were doing their thing. Extremely warm friendly people, every willing to teach you. Someone told me to bring my rollerblades and join the fun! Cool stuff but I’m not that mad to hang with them.
Then we saw this silly old women with belly dancing belt dancing to a street band. WEIRD people in NYC but its all entertainment.

Not sure if I wrote about my company gathering… We anyway, we had it about a month ago. I finally had time to put this collage of pictures together on this blog. Lovely bunch of people and I’m so glad to be working for such a great team. The night started well and when the wine started flowing I ended with the worst hangover in my history of bad hangovers. Does that make sense? Well… it does to me. Ended up at work on Thursday at my client office not feeling very fresh despite having a good 8hrs kip. This is the first and last time I’ll ever do that. Enjoy the pictures! Sxx
